Charlton Riverside – Shock call-in
London Mayor Sadiq Khan has unexpectedly called in the Rockwell planning application for 771 dwellings adjacent to Anchor and Hope Lane (the first of a number of such applications in the pipeline for Charlton Riverside). The application was unanimously rejected by the new Greenwich Council Planning Board in July after a sustained campaign by Charlton Together, an informal community forum set up by local amenity groups, including the Charlton Society, and strongly supported by local councillors. The call-in means that the final decision now rests with the Mayor, although a full consultation is promised. Prepare for battle – again!

VILLAGE CLEAN-UP – A small group of hi-viz Charlton Society members recently fanned out across the Village on a very hot day to collect litter and other detritus that the Council had been unable to remove. As always, it depends on volunteers, so in case you’re thinking of joining in next time, you might like to know that the operation lasted scarcely an hour! And next time it should be a bit cooler…..
